Top 5 Needs: Recreation

As the start of camp nears, Camp Starlight is still in need of donations. 

Once a week we'll be highlighting our Top 5 Needs in several areas of Camp. 

Recreation Sports

Kickball is a popular game during “rec time” involving campers and counselors alike. It can be fierce, but mostly fun, with some of us opting to make daisy chains in the outfield. This year we have a new tire swing for the bravest of campers and a HUGE soccer field for all-day fun. Only 11 days until camp and we can’t wait to play! Any new or used donations are greatly appreciated—and as always, we can arrange for pickup! 

Top 5 Needs:

• Soccer/Foot balls - nerf and original
• Hula Hoops (10)
• Frisbees (10)
• Wifflebats (3) & balls (20)
• Kickball/playground balls - (5)

Top 5 Needs: Arts & Crafts

Arts & Crafts

There is never a dull moment in Arts & Crafts, but there are lots messy ones! When the campers arrive at Arts & Crafts, some run straight for the glitter, others gather around the button maker, and some get started on painting right away. As the campers work on their projects, conversations bubble though the room about their favorite parts of camp and what they are planning for the talent show later in the week. This camp staple never gets old, because there is always something new to do! 

Top 5 Needs: 

• Rit Dye (for Tie Dye!)
• Tempura paints
• Rolls of Butcher paper
• Fimo clay - no bake style
• Beads

Top 5 Needs: Music

Music

Camp Starlight begins every day with the sounds of the morning band. A mix of sleepy, but enthusiastic kids and a few counselors gather in the early hours to grab their favorite instrument and warm up their voices. Then the morning band is on the move! They make a stop at each cabin, singing the wakeup song to rustle the rest of the campers from sleep. The campers also gather for music during the day in a small building with tall ceilings and stain glass windows. They learn to play instruments, make up songs and get ideas for the talent show. Help us stock the music room and bring the sound to life!

(No mouth instruments please)

• "World Music" hand-held instruments
• Gently used Guitars
• Gently used Keyboards
• Easel pad paper
  
• Small portable CD player

Top 5 Needs: Club Med

As the start of camp nears, Camp Starlight is still in need of donations of operational supplies. 

Once a week we'll be highlighting our Top 5 Needs in several areas of Camp. 

Club Med

Club Med is a place where taking your medication is no big deal. Dedicated volunteer nurses and doctors make sure that every camper receives the medication they need, in a fun and timely manner. But they don’t stop there! It’s also a great place to put on another layer of sun-screen, fill up on water or a get a quick Band-Aid before kickball. We still need a few more supplies to meet all of the needs of our campers. 

Top 5 Needs: 

• Large bottles of hand sanitizer
• Children's Tylenol
• Children's Ibuprofen
• Bug spray for kids
  
• Sunscreen for kids

Top 5 Needs: Kit's Kaboodle

Kit's Kaboodle

Kit’s Kaboodle is like the camp store, but everything is free! Campers can stop by to pick up pretty much anything they need to make for a fun and comfortable stay at camp. From toothpaste and shampoo to pillows, clothes and games­—the Kaboodle has it all.

We need your help to get it fully stocked for opening day!

Top 5 Needs:

• New sleeping bags
• Pillows
• Children's swimsuits ages 5-14 
• 100% juice - Capri Sun
• Flashlights with batteries
